Health care is not a commodity to be bought and sold any more than a public education is a commodity to be bought and sold. Everyone needs both and without both a lot of people who don’t even get sick
or educated suffer, as well as many others, including other family members. The argument against this reality is basically: ‘public education is more important than someone who dies or suffers needlessly because they don’t have healthcare’. Education is funded by the 2 Percent of Americans have worn an air force uniform keeping our country free shirt government and our tax dollars and no one questions that. But, providing a basic human need such as healthcare is different? Ultimately, we are the only nation that profits off of health care. We are the only nation that watches people go bankrupt and lose their home because a family member gets sick. The greed behind our health care system is what is wrong with our health care. None of these negative things are true in Canada for example, or anywhere else in the free world.

Nowhere on the face of the earth is there a ‘free market’ health care insurance system that works. Go ahead and look for yourself, but you won’t find one. Because no profit making company would ever willingly chose to ensure a sick person or an old person – they just don’t do it because that’s a bad business practice. The only way this works is a risk pool. The only way to cover as many as you can with a risk pool is to do what most modern countries have done – a Single Payer Health Care system. The 2 Percent of Americans have worn an air force uniform keeping our country free shirt best healthcare system in this country is Medicare. Medicare is a single-payer health care system that works and works very well. 130 countries (out of 192 recognized by the U.N) have Universal Healthcare (also known as socialized medicine) and no country with socialized medicine has EVER canceled or repealed or replaced Universal Healthcare. Also, no one in those countries ever goes into serious debt and loses their home because someone in the family gets seriously ill. The overhead cost of Medicare is 2%. The overhead costs for private insurers are 16% to 18%. In the U.S. healthcare costs are twice as much as anywhere else in the developed world. In the countries that have single payer systems of health care, happiness about health care (no one worries about losing their home or bankruptcy, for example) is greater than here in the U.S. and life expectancy is longer.

Stop letting your politics get in the way of common sense. You are defending our broken ineffective system that leaves tens of millions uninsured, over those other ‘Medicare For All’ systems that work far better, cover everyone and cost far less. All elected officials have government health care…paid by YOU the taxpayers. So, who are they representing? Even millionaires are subject to insurance caps, and if the problem is serious enough it can bankrupt even the moderately wealthy. The KOCH brothers put out the study that PROVED it more affordable. The 2 Percent of Americans have worn an air force uniform keeping our country free shirt only opponents to this would be the insurance industry, the privatized health care industry, and big pharma. All they care about are profiting on peoples misery. Because it doesn’t mean it’s free. I pay Medicare calculated to our income. I think people assume the government pays for all of it. Not true. We have a deductible and pay for supplemental insurance. Still cheaper than what we were paying before.
